Today, we take a day trip to the valley of Lauterbrunnen and its surrounding Alps. Lauterbrunnen is often referred to heaven on earth and once you step foot in the valley, you will see exactly why.
The day is yours to explore but we will give three options to help you make the best of it. We will also be running one of the three options as a guided tour for anyone who prefers to leave the logistics to us so they can take in the moments instead.
Lauterbrunnen is a hiker’s paradise and it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or pro – there is something for everyone.
Feeling extra adventurous? This is also an excellent place to go paragliding if you’ve never done it before (additional cost).

Travel to Zermatt
It’s time to say goodbye to the Bernese Oberland as we head south towards the Canton of Valais. We will travel through some of the most picturesque parts of the country to the crown of Switzerland, Zermatt. We will stop along the way to another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kandersteg. The day will mostly comprise of road tripping.
Zermatt is completely car-free, so we will be parking our car Täsch, which is a town north of Zermatt and take a train/shuttle into town.
Zermatt is the quintessential Swiss ski-town and it is most famous for, Matterhorn, a 14,692 ft pyramid mountain that overlooks the town of Zermatt. It is one of the most complex natural wonders. Interestingly, Matterhorn is not the tallest mountain in the Alps; that title belongs to Monte Rosa at 15,203 ft (“Dufourspitze” being its highest peak). But Matterhorn stands out for its distinct structure.
You will be blown away by the impact this majestic mountain will have on you. This is home for the next three nights.

Explore Zermatt
A day spent with Matterhorn. Early morning railway ride up the mountains to Gornergrat – the highest peak from where you can see Matterhorn. There are many stops on the train ride to and from Gornengrat. We will be stopping at them on the way back down to Zermatt. This will give us maximum opportunities to view the Matterhorn from different viewpoints as well as explore some amazing hiking trails.

Today is yours to freely explore the town of Zermatt, spend a day pampering yourself at one of the many world class spas in town or take the train to another nearby village. If you’re in the mood for an extraneous hike, then we recommend heading over to the village of Randa and doing the hike to the longest suspension bridge in the world! It will be quite the workout!
With so much to see and do, the most difficult decision will be choosing from the plethora of options!
