Arrival in Helsinki
Welcome to Helsinki!
Morning arrival in Helsinki for all guests.
After checking into our airport hotel, you will have the opportunity to settle in and rest and enjoy at leisure.
Later this afternoon, we will head to the city center to leisurely explore some of the highlights (see below) followed by our welcome dinner:
- Helsinki Cathedral
- Uspenskin Cathedral
- Temppeliaukio Church
We will call it in early as we have a morning flight to catch!
- Welcome Dinner
Off to Lapland!
Rise and Shine!
We are flying up North, way above the Arctic Circle to the town of Ivalo in the Finnish Lapland this morning. Get ready for some stunning views from the sky!
Upon arriving, we will take the resort transportation to our exclusive and magical accommodation!
Settle in and soak in the gorgeous environment.
Tonight, we will try our luck at first (of hopefully many) Aurora Borealis sightings by embarking on a snowshoe walk.
After breakfast, we will head over to Santa’s Village and go on a Reindeer Sleigh Ride! What better way to spend Christmas Eve, right?
A full day of activities and exploration awaits after that! Whether you want to go on a Hike at Finland’s second-largest National Park, hop on a snowmobile, try pedaling fatbikes through the Finnish forest or go on an epic husky ride — the options are endless!
This evening, we will enjoy a group Christmas Eve Dinner and then head out for our second chance to sky gaze for the gorgeous Aurora Borealis and maybe even sight Santa and his reindeers! Bundle up, it’s going to get cold!
After breakfast, we will head slightly south to the iconic glass igloos at Kakslauttanene Arctic Resort! After checking in, we will head out for a beautiful mid-morning horseback ride through the wild forests.
After which, you will have the remainder of the day to explore on you own, enjoy the igloo or partake in one of the following optional activities:
- Husky Safari (2 hours): $200
- Snowmobile (2 hours): $180
- Ice Fishing (4 hours): $200
- Nordic Ski Lesson with Instructor (1 hour): $100
Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort
This afternoon, we will experience the serenity of a Finnish Smoke Sauna, exclusively reserved for us. To cool off from all the sweating in the sauna, you can sit out in the cold, roll in the snow or….jump in the ice hole! Either way, it will be an experience you will never forget!
Off to Rovaniemi!
It’s an early morning today! We will grab our Breakfast-to-Go and hop on a 3-hour bus ride down to another Finnish Lapland town, Rovaniemi. It’s known as the Home of Santa Clause!
After checking into our gorgeous hotel, we will cross the Arctic Circle (literally walk over it) and meet the “Real” Santa Clause at Santa’s Village! Here you will be able to shop for all things Christmas to your heart’s content and pick up some unique and extraordinary gifts that can only be found at Santa’s home!
Tonight, we will get a chance to view the Aurora Borealis (or at the very least one of the most beautiful night skies – weather permitting) by way of ice floating! Experience the magic of cabin life, Finnish Lake and what it feels like to float in an insulated bodysuit with freezing waters all around you! One of the calmest experiences, ever!
After breakfast, the morning & afternoon is yours to explore on your own. You will have a chance to explore this small but charming city, shop for some uniquely Finnish products and/or partake in one of the optional activities below:
- Cycling riverside/city tour (1 hour): $80
- Arctic Fatbike (2.5 hours): $90
- Ice Fishing (4 hours): $125
- Ice Carting (1 hour): $80
Tonight’s dinner will be followed by a Forest Walk scouting Aurora Borealis and ending in another wonderful Finnish Sauna experience. Be sure to bundle up!
Day in Kemi
Today, we are off on an epic adventure to Kemi! We won’t tell you much more than that yere but you are truly in for an eye opening surprise!
Return to Helsinki
After breakfast, we will take a mid-morning flight back to Helsinki. We’ll check into our Airport hotel and the rest of the day is yours to explore Helsinki city center.
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can even take a ferry ride over to Tallinn, Estonia!
- Old Market Hall
- Unique Shopping
- Urban Sauna
- Design Museum
- Cafe Regatta
- Farewell Dinner
After our final breakfast together, we will head to the airport.
It’s time to say goodbye to beautiful Finland and to each other. We hope you will have created a lifetime of amazing memories that will make you want to return to another Spirited Navigators Tour in the future!
Finland should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list! If you want to experience the truest form of winter magic, look no farther than this Nordic sensation. We are repeat visitors to Finland and for good reason: Finnish Lapland is one of the most serenely stunning, wildly untouched places in the world. It is the epitome of “Winter Wonderland” and nothing about it is pretentious. In fact, Finland is the exact opposite of that. It knows the beauty it holds, but is very humble about it; you can feel it in the atmosphere no matter where you are in the country.
Finnish Lapland is one of the most ideal places in the world to view the enchanting Aurora Borealis. With visibility nearly 200 nights of the year, your chances of spotting the magic in the vast open skies above the snow-covered forests or from inside your own glass igloo are impeccable! But we’re about to take that to a whole new level by arranging this tour during the Polar Nights!
For nearly two months of the year, Finnish Lapland (above the Arctic circle) experiences close to 24 hours of darkness. Contrary to what you may be envisioning, it does not mean that the sky is always black. The sky goes through magical shades of blues during noon. But mostly, polar nights are the best chances for observing Aurora Borealis, something we truly want to maximize the chances of viewing!
The plethora of activities will keep you active and busy while in contrast, the experience of the authentic and famous Finnish Saunas will leave you feeling more rested than ever — you’ll surely want to come back for more!
While Lapland holds the quiet winter magic, the vibrant seaside capital, Helsinki, offers quite the opposite. Known for design, architecture, culture, parks, lakes, coastline and unique shopping, the city is packed with experiences that are not found in all cities around the world as one comes to expect from typical big cities.
Finland is as adventurous as it is relaxing – truly the best of both worlds!
We cannot wait to show you the various facades of one of the most consistently top-rated countries of the world! We know you will fall in love with it as instantly as we did!
