Welcome to the March and April edition of our bi-monthly series, Favorites, Recommendations & Coveted Item, where we share our favorite travel products that we’re loving every two months. You may have noticed that last year we did this as a monthly series, however, we decided to switch it up this year as we don’t always seek out new products on a monthly basis anymore. This allows us to share quality products with you without the pressure of just putting something up for the sake of it. Without further ado, Enjoy!
Kipling Seoul Large Laptop Backpack
When we flew to Finland in March, Saadia needed a backpack that would not only serve as its intended purpose but double as the only carryon for this winter heavy trip.
The Kipling Seoul large backpack was the perfect fit. It is lightweight and extremely roomy with tons of compartments and pockets to hold everything that both a backpack and a carryon would hold and keep things incredibly organized. We were able to pack two laptops, GoPro with attachments, several books, journal, tech gears/adapters, headphones, snacks, medicines, neck pillow, crossbody, extra change of clothes, water bottle, and tons of knick knacks without struggle.
One of our favorite features is the zipper organizer at the top handle. It’s the perfect size to put away your passport, IDs, keys or anything you want to have immediate access to.
Since March, we’ve used it on every trip and it constantly receives loads of compliments. It’s definitely one of Kipling’s best seller!
Price: $124 retail price ($86 on sale)
Available for purchase on Kipling, Macys, Amazon and Zappos.
Staying healthy is an integral part of our travels. Although not impossible, it can be tricky to find a way to fit in our regular fitness regimes when we are jet setting around the world. Whenever possible, we look for accommodations with fitness centers or when not possible, try to find a fitness center nearby we can get day passes to. But the reality is that we either don’t always get to utilize them or visit remote places with no access to such facilities. Enter our FitBits, because no matter where we are, the stats on our FitBits remind us of where we need to be. The FitBit is great at keeping us aware of our activity level each day. In fact, we walk 10 miles a day on average when we are on travel so seeing that flash on our wrists is always encouraging.
We especially love the Alta because its lightweight, not too bulky and has all the right features without the extra fluff which we don’t care for. The Alta tracks steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes, hourly activity & stationary time. It alerts you to move to reach an hourly goal of 250 steps. Calls, texts and calendar alerts display on the FitBit when the phone is nearby; this is super useful for when you are tied up doing something and can’t walk over to your phone to see who’s calling/texting. One of the best parts for travel is that it is rain, sweat, and shower proof, so you’re able to keep it on all day long.
All in all, it’s the perfect fitness buddy to keep you on track!
Available for purchase on FitBit, Amazon, Macys, Best Buy, and other retail stores.
We recently signed up for GlobeIn
, a monthly subscription box featuring exclusive, handcrafted, fair trade products from artisans around the world. GlobeIn supports artisans in developing countries by purchasing products directly from them and well vetted partner organizations, enabling these artisans and their communities with tools to build sustainable businesses and reduce poverty.
Upon signing up, you are asked to fill out a quick survey that allows GlobeIn to know what kind of products you are interested in (home decor, kitchen goods, food, art, etc.), based on which boxes and products are curated for you. The monthly subscription is cancelable and begin at $10/month (for a single product). So, it’s not a huge financial investment on the part of the consumer. The artisan box/basket, which have 4-5 items begin at $55/month (monthly), $50/month (3 months), $45/month (6 months), and $40/month (12 months).
Our first product was a handmade passport cover from Rajasthan, India, made from cruelty free leather (made from cows that have died of natural causes) and tanned without chemicals. It is a beautiful piece of work and we feel great knowing that we’ve been able to receive such a genuine piece of handmade product from an artisan who received fair wages for their hard work.
We really recommend you give them a try and to find out more about how GlobeIn works, click here

DJI Phanton 4 Pro
We want a drone!
Kapil’s love for photography means this DJI Phantom 4 Pro will be moving from the Coveted section to the Favorites section in the next issue of this post series. This is DJI’s most advanced Phantom yet, allowing breathtaking aerial images on both the iPhone and the iPad. “Its titanium alloy and magnesium alloy construction increases airframe rigidity and reduces weight, providing up to 30 minutes of flying time. The FlightAutonomy system adds dual rear-vision sensors and infrared sensing systems for five-direction obstacle sensing and four-direction obstacle avoidance.” (DJI)
Some of it’s impressive features include:
- Camera with 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor and mechanical shutter, shooting at 4K/60fps at a bitrate of 100Mbps . This means it can take crystal clear image of fast-moving subjects or when it is flying at high speed.
- Five-direction obstacle sensing, which protecta the Phantom from more obstacles and gives the user confidence to attempt more ambitious film-making projects.
- 4.3-mile (7 km) video transmission range
- 3 flight modes (position, anti, and sport) provides the type of control needed to create videos with focus on smoothness, simplicity, intelligent navigation, or speed.
We have some unique visions for future projects with the use of the Phantom 4 Pro and can’t wait to get this beauty in our hands.
Available for purchase at Apple, DJI, Best Buy, and Amazon.
Hope you enjoyed this months’ series and found it helpful! See you next time with more favorites, recommendations and coveted item. Till then, Happy Shopping and Safe Travels!
