Welcome to the July edition of our monthly series, Favorites, Recommendations & Coveted Item, where we share our favorite travel products that we’re loving each month. This month, we’ve got some colorful and useful items for you. Let’s jump right into it.
AirporTag Throw Pillows
When on home turf, we like to be reminded of all things travel, which means the house is droned in travel related items; and while most items are souvenirs purchased on trips, some items have to bought the old fashioned way, from a store! This is why we are happy to share AirporTag with you. They sell travel inspired gifts (think household products like throw pillows, posters, duvet covers, coffee mugs, shower curtains, tote bags) which make for excellent accents around the house.
Throw pillows are their best selling items and when you visit their site, you’ll see why. They come in several shapes, sizes and prints which include airport codes from all over the world, maps, travel quotes, and boarding passes, which can also be personalized, making them an excellent gift for the travel lover in your life. Recently purchased the Worldwide Airports pillow for a friend’s birthday (it was her favorite present this year) and an European Airports pillow for myself.
My only advice would be to skip the pillows themselves, and just buy the cover. Their pillows are pretty flimsy and may not be to everyone’s firmness satisfaction. Otherwise, this is only the beginning of a long and lovely friendship I forsee with AirporTag.
Price: ranges from $25-$45
Available for purchase at AirporTag.
Travel Coloring Books
Being at home for the entire month of July has been both aggravating and a blessing in disguise. It has allowed me to do the little things I never seem to have time for, like coloring!
[Insert Kapil’s eye rolls]
But, adult coloring books have been invented and incredibly popular because they work! They really allow you to relax and zone out, and who didn’t enjoy coloring when they were a kid? So, I make it a point to do 10 minutes of coloring a few times a week before going to bed. But with ample time on my hand this month, I’ve been able to spend more time coloring and have really began to appreciate the benefits of coloring/painting. Why are more people not doing it?
If you’ve had the slightest inclination to give this a try or better yet, if you are totally opposed to the idea, buy yourself a travel related coloring book (there are literally dozens of them), I own Splendid Cities, and then let me know if you still dislike it. Never hurts to try, right?
Available for purchase at Amazon.
Lightweight Sand/Water Repellant Beach Blanket
This is what has been missing from you beach adventures. We own the Gecko active beach blanket, but this is one of many similar items that are currently in the market. These beach blankets/mats are so big, it’ll fit all your friends and families and there will be no need to lug around extra towels.
Made out of 100% nylon, it’s super lightweight, quick drying and sand repellant. It’s literally the least sandy experience you’ll ever have on a beach, which makes clean up a cinch. The material keeps the blanket constantly cool no matter how hot that sun gets. It has snap buttons on the sides, so you can attach two or more of the same blankets together to make it as big as you need for your party. The bright colors make it easier to keep an eye on your things no matter how far out you swim. The blanket is anchored down with sand pockets but many also have additional stakes for extra strength. The wind will not be a problem.
The added bonus is its versatility, it can double as a giant umbrella should you or your belongings get rained on or a picnic blanket for your park, hike and outdoor game days. We even bring it with us on travel because it packs up into the most compact pouch.
Price: ranges from $18-$40
Available for purchase from various brands at Amazon.
World Scratch Map
Every world traveler needs a scratch off map as a keepsake, tracking device and wall art to proudly display. Although it comes rolled up, you can frame it with an open front which will allow it to be hung up but open for you to scratch off a country after each trip hassle-free. The reason it’s in this month’s favorites list is because I finally had it framed!
It makes for an excellent birthday, graduation or Christmas gift (too early, I know).
Available for purchase at Uncommon Goods, Amazon.
If you read our About Us section, then you know one of us is more fitness conscious than the other, and with all the upcoming travels we have ahead of us this year, the resistance band was the perfect recommendation for this month.
Ever find working out a huge task when you’re on travel? We do. It’s not always feasible to find an accommodation with a well equipped gym and what about trips where hotel rooms aren’t even an option (i.e., camping, road trips, countrysides). We’ve come to realize that the resistance band is the perfect workout partner on the go because of its super compact size, it’s incredible versatility and its cost effective incentive.
Resistance bands come in a variety of sizes, resistance weights (the higher the resistance, the harder the workout), attachments and colors (for those who prefer workout tools to be aesthetically pleasing), which means you can workout every single body part (shoulder, back, core, biceps, triceps, chest…you name it) exclusively. Finding workouts to target a specific body part is super easy with a simple google search and not a lot of space is needed to use it.
So don’t stress when you can’t find a gym, just pack your resistance band(s) and have your full body workout in the comfort of your hotel room, outdoors when on the go, of even at a rest stop if you’re road-tripping and need a quick stretch/workout to rejuvenate yourself.
In other words, with a resistance band, everyone can have a great workout, anytime, irrespective of their physical ability. No more missed workouts! Woohoo!
Price: ranges from $15-$40
Available for purchase at Amazon, Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods.
CamelBak Hydration Packs
With several active trips in our future, we’ve been on the lookout for proper hydration gears. After a lot of research, we’ve narrowed it down to the CamelBak DART minimalist pack. We love that it’s compact enough to not be a nuisance on our back but large enough to hold the amount of water we need for our hikes (50 oz). It has pockets to hold trail maps, keys, phone, energy bar and wallet; which is all we want to carry when we’re on the trails. The front and back reflectivity will keep us visible to our surroundings during both daylight and evening hours. At 10 in. and 80z (pack only), it is super lightweight, another huge plus!
This coveted item may soon be in our shopping carts — keep an eye out on our future monthly favorites series to see if this pops up in the favorites or recommendations anytime soon.
Hope you enjoyed this month’s series and found it helpful! See you next month with more favorites, recommendations and coveted item. Till then, Happy Shopping and Happy Travels!
